A South Australian Museum exhibition, the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition and exhibition celebrates the natural heritage of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea.
Now in its landmark 20th year of competition, see nature up close through stunning images by professional, emerging and junior photographers who have shown impeccable timing, patience, artistry and technique to capture incredible moments in time.
Opening on 24 August 2023 the South Australian Museum will announced the overall winner, Samuel Markham in addition to category winners, runners-up and the Portfolio Prize for 2023, before opening the doors to a breathtaking exhibition of all 95 finalists. From Animals in Nature to Astrophotography and our new Macro category, this year's finalists offer a stunning snapshot of the world around us
This breathtaking exhibition allows us to witness the unique beauty of the flora, fauna and landscapes of our own backyard and the world around us. This year’s exhibition also features the new Macro photography category, bringing nature's tiniest organisms into sharp focus.
